La temporada de premios calienta motores con las nominaciones al Primetime Emmy del 2019. Las sorpresas no tardaron en llegar y es que Game Of Thrones, que se despidió este año con su más controversial temporada, acumuló 32 nominaciones para estos galardones, batiendo el récord que tenía NYPD Blue, que recibió 27 nominaciones en 1994. Este año, como ya está siendo costumbre, el streaming de Netflix se muestra como un fuerte contendiente, albergando la cantidad de 117 nominaciones en total. Sin embargo, HBO sigue mostrando su poderío con 137 nominaciones, mientras que NBC apenas alcanzó un total de 58.
Entre las series que brillaron este año son When They See Us, de Ava DuVernay, con 16 nominaciones. Chernobyl, que se cuela en la categoría a la Mejor serie limitada junto a Escape at Dannemora y Sharp Objects. Por supuesto, este año también hubo actores y series ignoradas que alzaron la indignación en redes sociales, entre ellas la última temporada de Big Bang Theory y Homecoming de Julia Roberts.
